22nd July 2006

I finally managed to find a 2-door coupe Firenza/Magnum and I have actually bought a proper Droop Snoot Firenza, FANTASTIC!!  The history of the car is; a late '74 car, current owner bought her in early '77, ran her for 5 years and then had an accident and damaged the rear near side.  He took her to a garage who messed him around, got her back and realised she was still damaged, so stripped her down and she has been naked ever since '82.

She seems like a solid and original car.  I've got all the right people lined up to help, but I’m not sure how financially secure I’m going to be, as I haven’t got a huge budget.

I'll keep you updated as to what is going on.  Hopefully the car will be collected w/c 14th August.

18th August - Done it!!

I've collected the beast (what a massive relief!!).  I've now looked at all the bits (oh my goodness, what have I got into?!?!) and started formulating a plan, definitely long term!!

See pictures of the shell below.  I have all the missing bits too and you would not believe how many bits and pieces there are!

Keep watching, I'll keep updating.

Still not looking any better

23rd and 24th of August

Last night (23rd) was spent with a "young" Italian stallion by the name of Vincenzo Higgati or to most people Vincent Cyril Higgs.

Vince is a star when it comes to MGs (and Minis in his youth, but that could be a story for another day, all my spare money is going on the Snoot, not lawsuits!!)

Anyway, long story sideways, the Autosport famous is well known in the motor racing world for his resurrection skills, and guess what, I've got him on board.  The plan will unfold on Tuesday, 29th August and I'll update the website again.  In the meantime, please look at the pics below, I've swept and dusted!!

Door trims we have to keep

Tuesday - 29th August

The car has now been completely stripped and is ready to be sand-blasted tomorrow.  We are anticipating one days worth of welding and then all the panels can go back on.  Pictures and update to follow.
